| Hosts of this b&b have cheated me out of hundreds of dollars - charging me for multpie night stay, when I didn't stay there at all - because the b&b was locked and for hours no one came to the door! I tried for hours and attempted multiple times to attract the attention of anyone in the b&b (including walking around the entire place banging on doors and windows), I was forced to find somewhere else on the island to spend the night. Even neighboring hotel folks tried to contact the b&b without success. A competitor, trying to help me stay at Island Manor instead of grabbing me for their own place - now THAT is service! When someone finally answered the phone at the b&b hours later after I'd been forced to find somewhere else to stay, I was informed that I must be lying, that what I said happened never happened, and that I would be charged for 50% of my week-long stay because I was cancelling. But I had to cancel because no one would let me in the b&b! How the heck was I supposed to get to my room if the place was locked and no one answered any doorbell or pounding on doors?!
Stay far away from this place. I was quite willing to concede that my deposit, or perhaps even my first night's stay, would be forfeited. But to charge me for 50% of my week long stay?! When I couldn't get to my room? That's just horrendous. I *WANTED* to stay there! I pounded on windows trying to get in!
When my need for a bed to sleep in became very important (I'd been flying since 10pm the night before, on the red-eye from the west coast), I went across the street to the Hampton Inn and they not only had a room ready, when they heard what had happened they tried contacting the b&b for me and said if the b&b would let me stay for the rest of my reservation there, I wouldn't have to pay for my room at the hampton! Now THAT is customer service!
Avoid the Island Manor House b&b at all cost - or it will cost you when they don't let you in!
