| I was put up at the Chicago Marriott Southwest the night before a job at Toyota Park in nearby Bridgeview. My girlfriend has family and friends in the area, so we stopped by to say hi before actually getting to the hotel. By the time we finally made it, it was almost midnight. I went to check in and the receptionist told me it was my lucky night. I was supposed to be in a single room with a king bed, but those were full so they put me in the executive suite. On top of that, if I used my Visa I got a $25 gift card, so overall, it was a good night.
My suite was huge. It took a special key to get to the 8th floor and when we got there, they put me way back in the corner with no neighbors and near a fire door, so it was quite all night. The door opened to a little office area with a desk, couch, and TV. Back through a second door was a king size bed with another TV.
Two disappointments. Neither TV were HD. Mos tof the higher end hotels I've been staying in have made the switch to LCD TV's. Not a big deal because I only had about 6 hours before I had to be up, so there wasn't much TV watching. The big disappointment and reason I wouldn't stay here on my own is no free Wi-Fi. They just put in a new Wi-Fi system the week I stayed there and they now charge almost $14 a night to access the Internet. Wi-Fi is pretty much like TV now. It's an absolute necessity when it comes to hotels. The room is already pretty pricey...would it kill them to add Wi-Fi?
